The Greening Maindee Gateway Garden

The Greening Maindee Gateway Garden, an RHS Malvern show garden relocated to an urban site in Newport. Designed by April House – Award Winning Cotswolds Garden Design

Designing an urban garden

Garden design features: large bespoke gabion seating and gabion planter, resilient and naturalistic planting, multi-way permeable gravel pathways

The Greening Maindee Gateway garden appeared first at RHS Malvern Spring show May 2025 where it was awarded a Silver Medal. Immediately after the show it was wholly relocated to its forever home on the corner of Wharf/Chepstow Road, in Maindee, Newport – an area with the least green space in the city. It is maintained by the volunteers from the community-led charity Greening Maindee.
