Designing a large garden for a renovated modern home
Garden design features: gravel garden rill, seating and planting rooms, growing area, wildflower areas, large seating and dining terraces and a natural swimming pool
For this blank canvas 1.3 acre plot we zoned the garden into key areas to be used by the family. Parking is moved away and screened from the house entrance and replaced with a generous pathway to a proposed new double height porch approached through an avenue of parasol trees. To the side a courtyard with rill and gravel planting with seating to complement the new aluminium and larch windows and cladding. On the South side a floating deck leading to a chemical free formal shaped natural pool. To the rear an extended orchard wraps around the extended terrace overlooking a large and colourful perennial planting bed. To the North new species rich native hedging, a garden room, growing area with greenhouse and an area reserved for a dwelling for elderly parents. All zones are surrounded by wild flower areas with mown pathways. Construction of the garden is forthcoming in 2026/2027 while the house undergoes renovation.
